The Daily Prompt asks: Who’s the most important person in your life — and how would your day-to-day existence be different without them?
The most important person in my life is my son, we’ll call him Little A. He’s only 9 months old, but the joy he brings to daily life is truly amazing. Yes, of course there are many stressful moments, especially when he’s crying and neither mommy nor I can figure out what’s wrong. But, I wouldn’t trade this in for anything.
The amazing part of Little A is in a single day he can make you laugh, make you curse, scratch your head, think, problem solve, and most importantly realize just what are the truly important things in life.
I can’t fathom day-to-day life without him. No longer is such a thought comprehensible. Many people said, before he came along, enjoy your spare time. Get more sleep. Do everything you want to do. To a certain level, I understand those sentiments. Yet, my daily existence has never been more joyous, more fulfilling, rewarding.
Having Little A has done something else: taught me humility, courage, and personal strength. I don’t think he will fully understand until he has a child of his own.
On a side note, there is one more person who is the most important: my wife and Little A’s mom. I’m not sure how either Little A or myself would exist on a daily basis without her. Of course she tells me the most important thing for me is coffee. But I digress.
