Daily Prompt: Childhood Revisited

The Daily Prompt asks: Sure, you turned out pretty good, but is there anything you wish had been different about your childhood? If you have kids, is there anything you wish were different for them?

I think everyone relates to this topic in some way. For myself, I wish I had more interaction with people outside my family. Don’t get me wrong, family is the most important thing in the world. But, as a child being surrounded primarily by family members, you don’t always learn there is more to the world.

Growing up around a single family culture makes it difficult once the child grows and encounters others. So for myself, if I could go back in time, I would’ve wanted more personal interaction with others.

For my son, I would like to see less uncertainty in his world. It appears to me, the world is less certain about itself. Leaders and events appear to take us down dangerous paths more quickly. Our global society is so highly integrated with communications, that leaders of different beliefs are willing to jeopardize so much for said beliefs. I hope, that my child grows up in a more certain world.
