Sunday Morning Musings: Thoughts On 2012

As the Christmas holiday approaches, I thought I would take the time now to do a quick post about 2012. Fortunately, the Mayan’s were wrong and I’m still here to post about the year. Of course, I still don’t understand the problem with the Mayan Calendar. My calendar runs out every year, then I get a new one for Christmas from my mother-in-law. I digress.

2012 was definitely a year of tumult. I won’t go into all the details but I will highlight one event in particular. First let me state, I never thought I would write a blog about fatherhood. But when Little A came a month early and spent a week in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, well, my inspiration found me.

Fortunately, my little man is doing very well and growing, and growing, and growing. Fatherhood is hands down the greatest adventure and journey any man can embark on. I wouldn’t trade it for the world. Regardless of the 2:30 am feedings; the dirty diapers (I didn’t think carrots could produce…that), and all the other little things too numerous to mention here.

So, as I sit and ponder my musings of the past year I am grateful for many things. Most important…family. The holidays are the most stressful time of the year for many. Yet, we easily lose sight of what the holidays are truly about. All the gadgets, the toys, mean nothing in the grand scheme of things. Family, friends, the people who make the characters in the story of our lives are the truly important things.

Let us all be grateful for what we have. Let us all keep in our minds and hearts those who have lost and those who are suffering this holiday season.

Happy Holidays to all.
